About Chronika

Made for the person
who keeps getting asked

Someone on your team knows how the task is done. Everyone else keeps asking. Chronika lets that person do the task once and hand over a guide, instead of a meeting.

One instruction, one picture

01Why it exists

A recorder that outgrew its home

Chronika began as the guide recorder inside a larger team documentation product. Do the task, get the steps: that part worked well enough on its own.

So it was taken out and given a home of its own. It keeps what worked there (the guide model, the browser extension, the Windows recorder) and adds what a stand-alone product needs: its own name, workspaces for solo users and for teams, and a public site you are reading now.

The aim is plain. A guide that is correct, readable at a glance, and reaches the person who needs it in one link.

02Who it is for

People who show the same task twice

IT and operations staff, team leads, trainers, and anyone who has typed “let me show you” more than once.

The author

Records a task once, tidies it, and sends a link. Wants capture to be one click away, and wants nothing lost if the browser sleeps or the network blinks.

The reader

A colleague, or someone outside with a share link, following along while they do the job, often in another window. They glance, click, and look back.

Everyone gets a personal workspace. A team workspace is shared by its members, with roles for who can read, who can record and edit, and who manages people. Find your own team under Solutions.

03Principles

What we hold to

Four rules that decide the small questions, such as what a button says or where a setting defaults.

  • 01

    Record once, explain forever

Capture is one click away and never loses work. Steps upload as they happen, so a long recording survives the extension’s worker going to sleep.

  • 02

The reader is doing the task

A step is one instruction and one picture. Nothing competes with it, so a glance back from another window is enough.

  • 03

    A person decides

AI is optional, and when it is on it writes a first draft. The author can change every word, and apply or undo a write-up.

  • 04

    Private by default

Screens show internal systems, so nothing leaves the workspace unless someone shares it. A public link is a choice, and it can be turned off.

The one with the face

Meet Chronie

I’m Chronie, the assistant inside Chronika. I work on the guide you have open: I tidy titles and step text, reorder steps and add tips, and I tell you what I changed.

04A note on screens

How we think about screens

A screenshot is evidence. So guides show screens exactly as captured: no tint, no filter, nothing laid over the picture except the ring around the click and anything the author draws on purpose.

The screenshot for a step shows the page before the click, so the reader sees the thing they are about to press, not the result of pressing it.

Screens also hold things that should not travel. Password fields are detected and blurred into the pixels on the recorder’s side, before upload, and what was typed into them is not recorded. Detection is best-effort, and the author can blur anything else in the editor.

And because screens belong to the workspace, they are served only to its signed-in members, or through a guide’s public link when its author has turned one on.

05What it is not

Not everything, on purpose

Saying what we leave out keeps the rest honest.

  • Not a video tool. A guide is steps and screenshots, which you can scan, search and print.
  • Not a wiki. Guides live in workspaces and collections, but the unit is a procedure, not a page of everything.
  • Not a monitor. The recorders capture while you are recording: you press record, and you press complete.
  • Not an autopilot. AI drafts; a person reads it, edits it and decides.
